Ability to swap instrument

Can you make it possible to swap an instrument, keeping the notation in place?

If you mean change the sound, you can do it in Display -> Mixer
If you mean change the "actual" instrument of a staff, then you can do it by right clicking a staff -> Staff properties ->Change instrument. It will change the sound, the staff text, and also the transposition and range of the instrument.
