Pizzicato won't play
Hi,
I am having a problem with MuseScore version 0.9.6.1 on Windows 7. I am trying to write a piece scored for a full orchestra, and the double bass part will not play pizzicato. I have created a separate file, herewith attached, that reproduces this bug on my setup using simple scales. I tried this same file on nightly build mscoreNightly-r3304.7z and found that the playback was even more bizarre when I did that. The double bass part started out playing a piano sound, but then switched to arco double bass when it reached the first note AFTER the note I marked with arco (but not the note marked arco itself).
Regards,
Geoff

It works for me starting on a new score. Any idea why this particular file is different?

I don't know. But it's based on a template that I created that in turn was based on the Chamber Orchestra template that ships with 0.9.6.1 - basically I took the Chamber Orchestra template and added several more instruments to it. I don't know why that should have affected the pizzicato of the double basses.

I created a new blank score based on the Chamber Orchestra template. Then I copied and pasted the buggy base line from the example attached above, and it worked.
Nevertheless, the Chamber Orchestra template does not contain all the instruments I want. I actually re-created the entire Orchestra template from scratch this time - no basing it on the Chamber Orchestra template. But in the end, the double bass pizzicato STILL would not play.

There are definitely problems with pizzicato, at least for the double bass line. Here are the steps that I took to reproduce a particularly strange bug with it:
1. Create a new score from scratch.
2. Add the double bass instrument first, write a part for it and mark a passage in it as pizzicato. (I used the exact part and passage attached above.)
3. If you play the part here, you will note that it works fine.
4. Start adding all the other instruments in the orchestral ensemble, one by one, as I have attached above. I added them in reverse order, i.e. started at the bottom and worked my way up, i.e. double basses, then violincellos, etc.
5. I played the part after adding EACH NEW instrument.
6. All went well up until the two flute staves. After I added them, the pizzicato became noticeably softer.
7. And then finally, when I entered the piccolo staff, KABLOOEY! The pizzicato passage instrument sound changed from double basses to a piano.
At this rate, I'm simply not going to be able to use MuseScore to write orchestral scores.

I have been waiting for 0.9.6.2 to be released. Now that it has been, I immediately downloaded it, uninstalled 0.9.6.1, installed 0.9.6.2, and tried to replay the last piece I wrote that reproduces this bug. Whilst I am pleased to say that the pizzicato no longer plays like a piano, it still only plays as normal, not pizzicato.

I may just have fixed this. I took the last piece I wrote and started removing its staves one by one, until and including the harp part. Once I removed the harp part, the pizzicato started working again, so the next thing I did was re-add all the staves back into the piece by using the Undo button. Fortunately the pizzicato remained this time all the way up to the piccolo part, so that must be a testment to the superior stability of 0.9.6.2.
