Nothing working

I just downloaded and install musescore on my mac laptop running snow leopard and nothing appears on the score area of the screen. I can create a new file from the template, and when done, it just show a blank screen with no staff lines or anything. When I try to add anything it doesn't show up. I have shut down my computer, deleted and re-installed it, but nothing works. I would really like to use this software, but as of yet, it is completely impossible.

Any ideas?
