I realize this is over half a year old, but I was looking for this functionality and I don't see a chordnames plugin in my plugin directory.
There is the "Detect simple harmonies" one which seems to work pretty nicely, although I could do without the inversion number. Easy enough to fix.
However, with this (and other plugins that add annotation to the score) is there an easy way to erase the marks? For instance I might use these to add chord names to a different staff, but after that I won't be able to simply use Undo to remove the original notations.
The plugin referred to is, I believe, the one listed as Lead Sheet->Generate Chord Chart. It's function is simply to lost the different chords available in a given chordname style. Ot sure what exactly you are looking for, here. In general, chords havr nothing to do with plugins; they are entered directly by typing into the score as described in the Handbook page referenced above.

If you want to enter Chordnames manually in your score. See Chord name .
If your question is really about plugins, check the chordnames plugin in your plugin directory.

and delete or, "Cut" (ctrl x) and paste. Cut will remove the original.
