Skip a measure
Quick question- is there any way to make playback intentionally skip over a single measure? I still want the actual measure to be visible, I just want to skip over it when it comes to playback without a big pause. There's no repeat involved, so codas won't really work. Any suggestions?

use a trick (image capture)?

The layout works fine, but the discoloration makes it rather obvious that an image is spliced into place. It is an option, though. I just think that there has to be a better way.
EDIT: Nevermind, turns out that I overlooked the use of D.C. and using those and an invisible coda to skip the measure. Thanks for the help, though.
Can you explain more what you are trying to do? Why do you have a measure if you never want it played? Should it perhaps be a frame instead? If there are staff lones and notes, how will the human musicians reading the score know that the measure is to be ignored?

Well, it was mostly a matter of interpretation of the piece. It turns out that after listening to the piece with that particular measure included, it actually sounded better to me, so I kept it in.
For reference: this is the playing interpretation that I was trying to mimic; you'll note that in the video, there looks to be a cut-out measure. That would be measure 26, which is entirely omitted in this interpretation of the piece. The musician also omits measure 34, as seen if you keep playing a bit longer. Both measures that are omitted are the exact same as the one immediately above the gaps; measure 26 is the same as measure 24, and measure 34 is the same as measure 31.

I'm not sure where in the video your are referring to and I didn't see any obvious cut out measures, so I can't say for sure. But it sounds like you are describing an ossia - a measure showing an alternate intepretation of another measure. An ossia is normally be aligned directly *above* the measure it is replacing, not inline with it. And as such, there would never be a need to skip it - it would be played simulatenously with the main measure. Instead, you'd simply make sure it was silent. For now, graphics are often the best way to create an ossia, but a future release will have improved support in the form of cutaway staves.
Dear Sirs,
I have the same problem. I have inserted some bars into my score to explain children how to practice this part properly but the are not to be played back at all.
I am missing a bar's property - do not play back (skip) this bar. It would be simple and perfect.
Am I positive that there are no such option yet?
:-)
Thanks

You are correct. But the usual way to do this is with bars placed *above* the staff - it's called an "ossia". You can do that in MuseScore a few different ways, including using images or measures on an additional staff with the rest of the measures made invisible.

In the case here though the ossia is zero measures instead of one. How you write this even on paper I have no idea (expand the section to two measures and write the ossia as one measure--that won't be different from the extra measure you included?).
Raises interesting questions as to measure numbers as well.

I just made a copy of the file, erased the bars, exported music into MP3, deleted the copy...
Well, I can cope, but property - skip while playing back would be handy. :-)
Anyway, Musescore is an excelent tool. Thanks God for it and Mark too!

If there are no repeats/volta's in your score, you might make the jumps happen with forward segnos/codas.
With a volta, (3.0) at the bottom of the inspector, find a
REPEAT LIST: ____________
it will say 1, 2, or 3, depending which you chose. Simply, type in zero.
On begin text, you can choose which text.
