Changing vocal parts to opera character's names

It would be nice if instrument names could edited once they are in the score. Sometimes I only need an abbreviation even at the beginning. But the main question concerns opera. If I am typesetting an example from an opera and I set up a vocal line, it says Soprano. I had to delete that and create a staff text box and move it to the left of the staff. It would be nice if I could just rename from Soprano to the name of the opera character whose vocal line appears in the score.
