Can someone please tell me what these two dotted, V shaped lines do and how I can add them to my score?

I think these lines show, that the melody-tones change from Alto to Bass and back. However, it can be something else.
Just highlight the starting note, then in the palettes "lines" doubleclick on the second last entry (single line).
Doubleclick the line, move the handles to disired position.
Show the inspecteur (F8) and change linestyle to "dotted".
