barlines cannot be combined

Musescore 1.0
Windows XP pro
Create at score.
Now drag a double barline to the end of bar 2.( picture 1.)
To let bar 3 start with a start-repeat-barline drag the symbol to bar 3. This deletes the double bar in bar 2. (picture 2.)
Now with the start-repeat in bar 3 make a line break. Bar 3 still has the start-repeat. Again draw a double bar line to bar 2, and again the start repeat disappears in bar (3. picture 3.)
Now again draw a start repeat to bar 3, and finally it gets right ! (picture 4.)
Is this correct behaviour ??

I would expect, that if a bar ended with a double-barline it would remain there even if the next bar start with a start-repeat-line.
I have a big band score, and when I create parts I have to make all the bar-lines corrections manually for each instrument.

As for pictures 1 and 2, that looks correct to me. You wouldn't want a double bar line followed by start repeat, that would be too many lines and too confusing. As for 3 and 4, I'm not clear on whether or not you started a new piece or if you're still working with the same one. If you're still working on the same piece, you had what I see in picture 2, put a line break, and got what's in picture 3, then that's a problem in that the double bar line re-appeared and the start repeat disappeared.
I agree this a problem. Two problems, actually. One is that to MuseScore, a repeat sign is just another barline style (apparently), but it's really two separate things. The other is that MuseScore really only has a concept of how to affect the barline to the right of a measure, not to the left (although start repeats seem to be an anomaly).
I've encountered other situations where these distinction would be useful. The barlines automatically inserted at the beginning of staves (if you use that option) are currently always single barlines, and the is no way to make them be otherwise (short of dragging a graphic resembling a barline into position manually). But a publisher I do contract work for requires double bars at the start of a systems if the previous system ended in a double bar; also for codas. I can't be sure because I haven't tried using MuseScore for any projects for that publisher yet, but I *think* that's the only thing I would not be able to do. A simple option to make the automatic bar line at the start of a system the same as the one ending the previous system - but only if a closing repeat wasn't interpreted as a barline style to be repeated at the start of the next system. The barline style might or might not actually be a double bar for this purpose. Also, I'd need a way to explicitly make a coda system start with a double bar even if the previous system did not end with one (although realistically, it almost always would).

I would also like to put double bar lines both at the end of a system and the beginning of the next system. This seems to standard convention for lead sheets, for instance in the New Real Book. A related issue is that if you have MuseScore set put barlines at the beginnings of the systems, and you put a start repeat in one of these bars (I would think that is common), the program doesn't get rid of the barline at the beginning of the system, and shows both the original barline and the begin repeat.
Marc, when you mention dragging a graphic manually, are you referring to something in MuseScore, or are you doing this on, say, a pdf?

You can place graphics in MuseScore. So that's how I'd workaround this if I needed to. Mostly, I just just MuseScore do what it wants. But it still seems to me that barline issare the ues biggest problems I face in terms of getting exactly the results I would prefer (and need if I were doing charts for hire). The lack of a left/right distinction also the behavior when connecting staves and using Hide Empty Staves, and the handling of system braces.
