lost features with new updates - totally sucks!

Each time I install a new update of Musescore, some of my routines do not work anymore, and it takes me hours to figure out a new solution, until a new update comes along, which changes everything again. This totally sucks!!!

My current problem: I used the shortcut key "m" a lot, which grouped empty bars into one bar with the number of empty bars in this one bar. For my current version, it's gone :(
I used to put a jpg logo into the header text field and mouse-dragged it to the center of the header. I can still import the jpg into the header, but I cannot move it anymore. :(

I think Musescore is a great tool, especially as it still is free of charge, but the current update policy with many features obviously gone really drives me mad. Any of you with likewise experiences?? Any good alternative music scoring software??
