per-score soundfont settings
Current version:
OS: KDE Flatpak runtime, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2, revision: github-musescore-musescore-
If I want to compose organ music, the scores should start in the organ soundfont, and if I want to compose other music, the scores should start in the GM soundfont. Etc. I shouldn't have to do anything like set defaults and load soundfont from score every time I open a score that uses a different soundfont. It should "just work."
Thank you.

Except that I can't think of any software that will "just work" without setting some defaults ( I.E. what it is that you want to have happen at any given time). I have asked you before about how you use fonts so that we can help you. But you don't answer because you only seem to be interested in your idea of how you think MuseScore should work.
If you start a new orchestra score, MuseScore will load the first instrument types it comes to. Sometimes these are the sounds I want and sometimes I have to change "strings" to "violins" because the two sound different. The point is that MuseScore (or any notation software I've used) can't guess what you want. While you may have started an organ template, MuseScore doesn't automatically know what sounds you want unless that font is loaded into Fluid and set as default. Although, if you had a master font that included your organ listed above or instead of the default organ in the General font, that would work.
I have a list of things that I wish MuseScore did. In the meantime, I have to work within its limits.

I have 2 pieces as examples; a simple piano scale and the beginning of an organ piece. No matter what I do, even if I save the score, both pieces play the default soundfont when I open the files. If it's the organ font, they play organ; if it's GM font, they both play GM.
I give up.

OK: so what it looks like is that every time I open a piece of music, I have to "load from score" whatever synthesizer settings I "saved to score."
Could a preferences checkmark be added to "autoload synthesizer settings from score?"
Turns out that "save to score/load from score" also applies to reverb.
I would do it myself if I could come up with the time, but I'm retired, so I'm a honeydo.

Place the organ font, along with the GM font, in the synthesizer, then click 'Set as Default'.
With these 2 soundfonts now always accessible in the synthesizer, your organ scores can use the special organ font and other scores can use the GM font without you having to "load from score".

OK: so this is not a bug that needs to be fixed. Every time you change fonts in the synthesizer, and then open or start a score, you have to tell it what sounds you want. But, as has been suggested a few times, you should load both fonts in the synthesizer and leave them there. Set as default. Now the first time you open your organ score you will need to use the mixer to tell MuseScore what sound to use. There will now be an asterisk next to the file name because you changed something. Select the save button, the asterisk goes away. Close the score. Open your piano score. Set the sound you want. Save. Close the score. Open your organ score. It should play the organ font. You will have to do this only the first time you open something.
And yes, reverb and volume levels are saved also. Perhaps spend some time in the manual

It's not working that way. The best I can do is to set up fonts and reverb and save to score, then next time load from score. Doing anything in the mixer makes no difference.
But at least I'm no longer confused (I suppose) about load from score/save to score, and at least I'm getting what I need.

I'm sorry I bothered people. What's been confusing to me is that my old scores weren't working as I expected. I have forgotten that Musescore's mixer sees all the instrument names from all loaded fonts. Again, sorry for the trouble.
