Notation for 31-TET – very confused
Hi, everyone. I installed the wonderful plugin "Fifths_Based_Tunings.qml" and experimented using 19. No problem because I can use regular flats and sharps.
However, I'd like to use 31-TET, but cannot figure out which of the dozens of microtone accidentals to use (and I've tried many combinations). I tried the ones given on 31et.com (at https://31et.com/page/notation), then applied the 31 tuning, but that didn't work. (Please see the attached file.)
Can someone please tell me what notation I need to use in order to correctly write a 31-TET chromatic scale?
Thanks very much!
David

I cannot tell you how, but I can tell you why what you tried didn´t work. The notation you are using uses 24TET, not 31TET. 24TET preserves the D#/Eb enharmonics, while 31TET does not.

In the notation musescore uses, it goes D -> Dhalfsharp -> Dsharp/Eflat -> Ehalfflat -> E, while 31TET goes D -> Dhalfsharp -> Dsharp -> Eflat -> Ehalfflat -> E.
