How do I turn the software to go from piano to Trombone? I am using this to practice one of the Etudes I have for band and I can't seem to get to to be into a trombone part.

Normally you'd simply create it as trombone to begin with when you use File ' New to create the score. but if you just started with the sample piano score - not normally recommended except for experimenting - you can still change to another instrument by right-clicking the staff, then Staff/Part Properties, then Change Instrument.

Another alternative would be to add a new Trombone staff (add a new instrument) and copy-paste the contents of the piano staff.

Dunno ... if I were reading the score, as a trombone player, that's certainly what I would expect: "a piano staff for the pianist," and "a trombone staff for me."
