Double click the default tempo value

Why not just allow the user to double-click (hence change) the 120 default BPM located at the top-right of the screen?

It's possible, but what would it mean to edit that value in a score that changes tempo? The proper way to change tempo your score is to add an actual tempo marking (e.g., from the palette, or Alt+Shift+T).

When you create a default score, the tempo is 120 BPM (it's written at the top-right) but there is no tempo indication on the score itself to indicate it. So why not let the user change that value without inserting a tempo marking from the palette?

How would a person reading the score understand that? If you want a particular note played, you write it in on the score so people can see it you don't change some setting on a computer program that the musician reading the score won't see. So, same with tempo.
But my point was actually different. If there was a button to change the tempo, what would it do for a piece that starts at, say 120, but changes after eight bars to 80, then eighth bar later back 120? If you change the tempo to 240, should that replace the first 120 only, replace both 120's but leave the 80 alone, double all the tempos, or simply delete the tempo markings and replace them all with a single 240 at the start?

Completely agree. But this is off topic. The problem is that 120 BPM is the default tempo and that the reader cannot see it because it's not printed. So let's add a default 120 BPM tempo mark at bar 1 to be more logical.

To be clear, it is printed if you check the box in the wizard. But indeed, probably better if it was checked by default.
