Help, MuseScore 4 file will not open
I am running Muscore 4, the very latest version and I believe my PC installed some auto-updates overnight because when I got to my computer the other day, all had closed. But no problem I thought because I recall having saved the file. However it will not open. Its just a few pages of George Harrison Saxophone Licks I NEED for his 80th Bday concert. Can anyone fix this? See attached.

I am running version 4.0.1.
I am attaching the autosaved file, but had to remove the autosave suffix in order to attach it here.

I save my files on dropbox, and so I can see the save history... I saved it a good 10 times or so when I last worked on the file on Feb 15, and NONE of those versions will open. I can open the file from back in January. And so, this can't have anything to do with the computer reboot. There is definitely a problem in that if MuseScore allows us to SAVE a file without error, it needs to be able to OPEN that same file without error.

Is this an actual auto save file or a file from the backup folder in the scores folder?
I can't open it either.
So you left your computer on with software open, over night.

The original post i made above contains the actual file as i last saved it, not the autosave. In the comments, i attached a copy of the autosave file as well. Neither opens. And prior versions restored from Dropbox also won't open and all crash musesore.

And yes, i had the PC running MuseScore when it was rebooted and that explains why there was an autosave file, but not why any of the recently saved files will not open.

Look at the date on your saved file. Does it say the date you last saved it, or the date you first saved it with that name. And were they Save or Save As? Could explain some things.
Some people here have software that can look at your file and maybe see what is going on.

It contains the date last saved. That's the file i attached to the original post above. In my first comment, i attached the .backup file with a timestamp at 4am, likely when the PC rebooted.

And it was a Save, not Save As.

This problem has been resolved thanks to the help of a friend in another thread, link contained here in another comment. These were my comments about my experience:
I do believe this is a bug and hope the team looks into it: If a file SAVES with no errors, it always must OPEN with no errors. Detecting a problem when we open a file and not having a recovery path isn't acceptable to anyone, no matter what software we are using.
