CHANGING TEMPO WITHIN A SCORE USING MUSESCORE 4

• Aug 8, 2023 - 21:35

HELLO...
I HAVE A SCORE THAT STARTS OUT AT 136 BPM. DURING THE SCORE IT SLOWS TO 96. THIS HAPPENS TWICE IN THE PIECE. IS THERE A WAY TO SLOW FROM ONE TEMPO TO ANOTHER, SPEED UP TO ORIGINAL TEMPO, AND REPEAT ONE MORE TIME?

THANKS, DALE MILLER

SteveBlower's reply is spot on. If by chance you're still puzzled (because I sure was at first) here are steps:

  1. To slow the tempo (ritard), select the measures you want the ritard to occur over.
  2. On the Tempo palette, select ‘rit’ or ‘rall’.
  3. To control how much you want to slow the tempo, click the dotted ‘rit’ line so that it’s selected, then go to properties. There you’ll click ‘Playback’, and you’ll see ‘Tempo Change’. You can adjust the amount of change by percentages there.
  4. For speeding up (accelerando), select ‘accel’ from the tempo palette and just do the opposite of the steps above.

Good luck!
