dotted half-note with double beam
In Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 4, 1st movement ("Allegro molto con brio"), measure 288 (if I have counted correctly :-) has an odd symbol: the measure of 6/8 contains two half-notes (are they also called "minim"?) joined by a double beam as if they were 16th notes. (See the screenshot)
A) What does this mean in terms of performance? (I have a guess, but ...)
B) Can I duplicate this notation in MS? (I think I know how, but ...)
C) Can I get it to PLAY what it's supposed to? (I have still another guess, but ...)

That's what I was thinking it was, but I don't see how to make it display like that???

Ohhhhhh, now I see it. You have to use the "between notes" tremolo option. I hadn't realized there were the two possibilities. And that fixed it all.
Enter two dotted quarter-notes. Select the "16th between notes" option. Then set the display options for "style between notes". That's got it!!!
