Toggle slash notation fails in Musescore 4.2
I have a piano part with chords. When I select a chord and select toggle rhythmic slash notation it changes to a single note instead of a slash. If I then do it again it changes back to the chord with all notes notated as slashes....
This wasn't in previous versions as far as I know....

I just tried with a new score and then it works fine, but with an older score (initially made in MS 3) I have this problem. Strange...

Share this older score (or only a few measures demonstrating the problem), there is surely a reason.

I just noticed I have the same issue with another file Which was converted from Muscescore 3.6.2 and then continued on musescore 4.0 then en 4.2....
It looks like there is some kind of bug in converting the files....
If I create a new score and then copy everything into it, It might work, but then I have to recreate all the formatting of the parts again...
I really would like to know if there is a way to "repair" the file.
I have many big band arrangements made in 3.6.2 and if I now want to add or edit parts I mainly use Musescore 4.

As last time, I exported your file in MusicXML format. This had the same restorative effect when reopening with MuseScore.
To check, I created a file with chords in MuseScore 3. Opening it with MuseScore 4, the behavior of slashes is as expected.

Thanks for the effort, but restoring all my part layouts is way more work than manually adding the slashes, so this isn't really a fix for me....
Still feels like a bug as importing files from olde versions of musescore obviously creates misbehaviour onmy files....

Yes, I understand what you mean.
The idea of replacing the instrument (say the piano) with the same instrument, for a kind of reset, doesn't work here.
However, another action works for some reason and is also much less invasive. Go to the "Instruments" panel, click not on the cogwheel, but on the instrument name itself (which turns blue). Then click on the recycle bin, at the very top. Answer "Yes" when asked to confirm deletion of the instrument. Once you've done this, press Undo (Ctrl + Z).
Piano is back, and now, the slashes work again. Why, I don't know!

How do you create those GIFs? This can be very usefull for reporting bugs.

The score was created in April 2017, even before the release of V3. I assume this is the reason or one of the reasons for the behavior you were describing.
However, simply exporting the file to MusicXML format will restore the expected and actual behavior. See: 1_String_of_Pearls_Glenn_Miller_-_Full_Big_Band_Arrangement.mscz
And for creating GIFs, search the web, there's plenty to choose from...
