MuseScore4.2.1 crashes
MuseScore 4 suddenly crashed and restarting just shows the initial empty canvas and crashes again. It won't start.
I'm using a 7 yeadr old HP ENVY Win 10 with plenty of RAM and Disc available.
Rebooting, reinstalling, repairing, removing and reinstalling won't help.
I even deleted MuseScore4 related entries from registry before reinstalling. No help.
Does anybody have any idea how to get my MuseScore4 runnung again,
MuseScore3 works fine.

Does this happen only when you try to open specific files, or does it always happen?
Have you recently made any notable changes to your computer, such as changes to the audio configuration? If possible, try to revert them.
If that isn't the case, you could try factory resetting Musescore from the command line. Open a command prompt and enter or paste the following command:
"%ProgramFiles%\MuseScore 4\bin\MuseScore4.exe" -F
Edit the file path in the command if you have installed MS in another location than the usual one. Now, restart your computer and try to open MS. If it still doesn't work, please do the following:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\MuseScore\MuseScore4\logs

Thanks!
MS4 starts ok now, after reverting to factory settings. The last score was also corrupted.

I'm glad that it works now. Feel free to attach the corrupted score here if you need help repairing it. You can change the language of MS in Edit > Preferences.

The score was originally created with ms3 and now loaded to ms4. Only some Minor changes made. Ms4 crashed on closing the score. I guess MS loads references to recent scores and could not coupe with The corrupted one.

Here is the problematic original converted score before any changes. No need to fix it, just for information if investigating it reveals a problem in ms4.

There seems to be something wrong with the part scores. I opened the file as a zip archive and deleted the folder "Excerpts", which contains the parts. Then the score opens perfectly. Unfortunately, any formatting changes made to the parts will be lost with this method.
Musescore should, however, never crash. If you have the time, I would recommend that you report this bug on Github and provide a link to the score in this topic.
