Glisses for Strings
A major thing that makes string instruments unique is their ability to make glisses, harmonic glisses, or even be used as percussion in some cases. I feel like it would be great to add glissando sounds to string instruments. Or are there any ways to make such glisses I'm not aware of?

Those palletes add the glissando symbols but not actual glissandos, rather chromatic scales

Select the gliss and In properties choose Portamento. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/arpeggios-and-glissandi#portamento

Thank you!

This puts the symbol on the score, but doesn't actually play glissando. Which makes Musescore unusable for making audio with glissando unfortunately. This is my most desired featured in Musescore - Sibelius can do it.

Check which sound you are using in the mixer. For me, portamento playback style sounds like a chromatic if I use MSBasic violin sounds, but with Muse Sounds violin 2 (solo), violins 1 and violins 2, but not violin 1 (solo), portamento sounds quite convincing. Violin 1 (solo) which just seems to play a legato transition between two notes) but not with MS Basic.
MS Basic seem to attempt portamento by bending the pitch between individual notes of a chromatic scale, but at any reasonable speed you can hear a dwell on each individual note. If you play an MS Basic gliss. at a very low speed you can hear a clear difference between portamento and chromatic. And if you use a Muse Sound violin instead you should hear a very much better attempt at portamento.
Try this score.

Thanks. On my MuseScore that just plays portamento at the end of the note, no glissando.

Different players have different interpretations of a glissando. Unfortunately, Musescore's player only seems to have that one interpretation. See https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/20611 for example
