software has ground to a halt.
Since downloading the latest version musescore in June it has ground to a halt. at first it was barely noticeable but now it takes15 mins to copy and paste a part and there is so much latency that it unusable.

So this problem only affects this almost finished full band score or any new score pasted with parts from this one

That score is huge and has a lot of Rit. at the end which I think might be causing the problem. Incidentally, you are asking the Solo Cornet to play an F above Top C in places - they won't thank you for that.

Agreed. All those Rit. marks at the end are a major problem.

Thank you yes you are both right, clearing the rit. has sorted it. I hadn't even noticed it as I was only half way through the score tidying up. The cornets have been pasted from clarinet parts so was only half way through managing them.
Thankyou again, writing for a full band is an arduous task.

I have played solo cornet (Bb) and soprano cornet (Eb). The Bb cornet players are happiest from F3 up to G5 although they can grudgingly hit a C (or a Bb on a bad day). The soprano is comfortable up to maybe concert E6 but many can go higher. The intervals between notes get physically closer together at higher pitches and this makes it difficult to hit a note with accuracy.
Ask the players what they are happy with. Most have about a two octave range except for the bass trombonist who is generally a pretty skilled player and has a sophisticated instrument that can cover an astonishingly wide range.

Thanks, that is all very helpful.
I am a euphonium player and manage easily G's and A's above the ledger lines with no trouble whereas you cornets get quite exhausted, with so little lip to engage. As my teacher said once, it’s easier when you put more meat in!
Going back to my score its still only a sketch from a you- tube tune with wind instruments playing the top line. adapting the cornet line needs a lot more work. Have to get this ready for Octoberfest.
