Lyrics tool jumping past notes
I'm trying to enter lyrics for a song, and it's jumping past notes in some places when I hit a hyphen or space. See the attached image. I was trying to enter the word "mysterious," so I typed "mys" and then hit the hypen to go to the next note, but it skipped four notes, automatically entered hyphens, and went to the fifth note. The same thing happens when I hit space sometimes. Anyone know what's up? Thanks in advance.

Because you've entered the "mys" in voice 2 (I guess, but no matter) and the notes of the next measure and the following half note are in voice 1. Voice 2 returns (that's why you see the green cursor) on the last C (in unison with another voice). It's essential to assign a right order to your notes and voices, as lyrics are associated with them.
In other words, if you have started in Voice2, the next syllable will only be entered when it meets a note belonging to the same voice. That's why "it skipped four notes"
Ditto if it was in Voice 1 etc.
See: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/voices#using-voices (same behaviour with V4) and https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/voices#satbtips

Aha, you've exposed my lack of experience with MuseScore. This is music that I imported via a PDF, so that might explain the voicing weirdness. I appreciate the direction via your links.

Not "that might explain", but this explain the voicing weirdness.
Good luck in getting things back in order.
