Is this a mistake on the piece I'm transcribing
I'm trying to transcribe a piece but I (and musescore) think that this bar is impossible, those last three notes must be meant as semiquavers or else they won't fit. I'm not terribly proficient with sheet music so would appreciate if anyone can see a way that this could be correct.

Those last three notes are a triplet. They fit within one beat. You have 4 beats in the bar. It is not a mistake.
See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/tuplets for how to enter a triplet.

Because musical notation timing is aligned vertically across staves in the same system, you can compare the two staves as shown here:
Your attached image does not show a second barline, but for 4/4 time signature (assuming this is not an irregular measure) I have drawn one to show the end of the measure.
So, looking at the bottom staff it may make it easier to see that the final triplet in the top staff is an eighth note (quaver) triplet with a total duration of one beat (crotchet/quarter note).
To create various triplets, look at the picture here:

thank you for directing me to that image guide, helped me to get the right triplets and your diagram helped me to visualise the timing of them to better understand the system for entering them in

Glad it helped. The key for triplets is remembering to initially invoke Ctrl 3 upon the total duration of the triplet. This breaks that total duration into notes of lesser durations, as is shown by that picture with the different triplet examples.

Yeah, selecting the appropriate duration then ctrl+(number of notes you want to fit into said duration) the hotkeys on this program are very intuitive to use
