Musescore will not load or display scores.
Musescore 4 opens, meaning that the icon appears in the task bar, but it will not open any score file, New or old, An additional Musescore icon appears, and if i click on the icon and click on "open", a black page with the file title in the upper left corner appears but the file itself does not open. I have tried "modify repair" and have uninstalled and re-installed the program to no avail.

What OS? And have you tried a restart yet?

Win 11. Have tried restart, repair, delete/reinstall. All to no avail.
Tried revert to factory settings. Able to revert (I think) but scores will still not open. If I were to guess it appears that Musescore is "timing out" or not completing the "load" process.

Some things to look at in no particular order.
In your Documents, is there a MuseScore4 folder. There are several smaller folders inside.
When you mouse over the Desktop icon, a path ending in "bin" should appear.
Right click on the Desktop icon and "run as administrator" should be one of the choices. You might try that.
You say that an icon appears in the Taskbar. What do you see if you mouse over it. I see a small version of the software window
You say another icon appears. What does it look like? What happens if you mouse over it or right click on it.
Reinstall almost never works unless you uninstall and then delete all the stuff left behind. As in run a search of your hard drive for MuseScore4 and delete everything that shows up. If you were to go that route, you'd be surprised how much remains. Then reinstall and restart before you try to open MuseScore.

When i mouse or scroll over desktop icon there is no path ending in "bin".
Have tried run as administrator to no avail.
When I try to open Musescore or a Musescore score, Musescore icon appears on taskbar. When I scroll over taskbar icon, it shows the small version of the software window, when I right click on it, it shows the name of the file I'm trying to open and a "close" command.
When I try to open Musescore, I do get the software window or desktop on the screen with a small title of the software or title I'm trying to open, but nothing else. See screenshot.
Have not yet tried delete and hard drive purge described yet.

OK. Now we are shooting in the dark. But at least we are still shooting. I see from your screenshot that you have in the upper right corner, the three places to click to minimize, change the window size, or close the program. Click in the resize one. And when that doesn't do anything, hit F11. F11 is the full window size command.
On the desktop, left click on a blank place, then mouse over the MuseScore icon. Do you have those folders in Documents?
