Copying F#major notes into Bb instrument staff

• Nov 27, 2017 - 20:49

I have a confusing problem. When I try to copy and paste anything written in the Key of F#major to an Bb instrument, in this case a Clarinet, the notation is pasted with unnecessary sharps and double sharps. This doesn't seem to happen with any other key I've tried, it's only songs written in F#major.

Is there a workaround to this other than re-entering the notes one by one in the Bb staff?

It also does it in the key of C#. These are the only two keys that change the key signatures from sharps to flats on Bb instruments. The notes in the C instrument are defined as having sharps. So on paste, accidentals are used to keep the sharps as though the key were G# rather than Ab. Not the smartest thing MuseScore does, but it doesn't look to assure you are pasting into the same measure on a different instrument. If you did a key change on the C instrument to Ab as your example and pasted after the key change it would do the same thing but without transposition. When I have experienced this, I select the destination and press the up key followed by the down key to force flats (if needed) and naturals.

Thanks, this explanation really helps. So I did as people suggested and just selected the whole part, pressed UP ARROW once, and then DOWN ARROW once, which reset it back to the original pitch, but without all the unnecessary Sharps and double sharps.

Hope this helps anyone else encountering the same problem.
