Temposelector in Toolbar
I'd love to see a temposelector (a Textbox with i.e. % or BPM) directly in the toolbar. I often have to open the replay-window ("Wiedergabepult" in german) just to change the tempo. This takes valuable screenspace. A simple temposelector (no slider necessary) in the toolbar would do the same job way better for me.

Changing the tempo of a piece would normally not be a very common operation, and is more correctly done by actually editing the tempo text at the beginning of the piece. I guess maybe you are trying to use MuseScore as a sort of practice / play-along tool? That's not really its purpose; the UI is more optimized for use in creating notation than as a practice tool. For that, you are better off using the mobile apps.

To me changing the tempo is quite a usual operation. I'm using MuseScore primarily to write scores for a choir. It's a mixture of arrangement and notation process what I'm using MuseScore for. I'm sitting at the piano, figuring out the voices an then immediately put them into scores. Unfortunately, I'm not good in rhythmical notations. So very often I reduce the speed to backcheck rhythmical patterns to set it back to original speed again later. I also change the tempo to try out different speeds.
For me, the perfect printable sheet of music is often not the target. Written speed annotations are absolutely ignored. Tempo is defined during the rehearsals and performances by the conductor (me). The singers accept my imperfections in the scores. Dynamical annotations i.e. are also ignored completely. They are added by the singers themselves during the rehearsals. Some of my scores are not made for eternity.

OK, that does make sense. To me, the Play Panel is still the solution - that way, only the people using this particular working model have the screen space taken up. But a more configurable toolbar would also solve that.

Definitely, a more configurable toolbar would be great.

This is a great idea. I'll try that.

I'm with ya...I was thinking too, there would be a lot of room to put the play panel on the upper right side next to the camera symbol and page numbers too for the play panel
At the beginning of the song where you see the quarter note = number (of beats per minute) , you can right click the number and select "Edit Element" from the menu. you can actually type a new number to change the tempo or beats per minute.

For the record, while this works, it's usually easier to just double-click text elements rather than right-click followed by Edit Element. Same effect though.
