Hairpins across pages
Does anyone know why MuseScore does this when I try to extend a hairpin across two bars at the end and start of adjacent pages?

Select the two measures, double click the hairpin in the palette. is the method you used?

No, I selected the start note and double-clicked the hairpin tool. Thanks for the tip Shoichi! I'll try again by selecting the two bars. :)
You can certainly select just one note then double click the hairpin, and it will choose some sort of default range (usually to end of measure I think). But if you want to change the range of that hairpin, you need to use Shift+left/right as documented in the Handbook. If you simply drag the handle, you are telling MuseScore to adjust the physical length of the hairpin only, and then if the layout changes in any way, that adjustment will likely no longer make sense, leading to issues like this.
As usual, we can assist better given an an actual score, not just a picture.
