Have you tried adjusting it via right-click Line Properties?

I should have mentioned - that is how I did it.

Centre Text vertical?
In reply to Centre Text vertical? by Shoichi
Well, I'm sure there are cludges, but what appears to me is that the "hook" (I don't know what to call it) that is used to attach the text to the symbol is not calibrated properly.
The top of the text should not appear over the line. The text should lower, not increase at the top.
I hope I am clear.

You are clear but besides experimenting with the options of text alignment (my image above) I do not know how to do. Maybe reduce the size of the font?

Thanks. I increased the size because a player I rehearsed yesterday asked that I make my text larger.
:)
We could possibly change the default alignment of text in voltas to be "top" instead of "baseline", and then change the offset to something appropriate small. Downside is that then voltas with different texts would no longer align as I think we might expect, if the heights differ. Not sure there is an easy solution here. Hmm, maybe we could allow the vertical offset to be set in font-size units like em, en, x, or X? That could be useful across the board...
