Multiple accessory percussion parts on one part
Is there a way to put all of the accessory percussion parts on one part and have them represent the correct instrument during play back? I know that I can write a cymbal part & a triangle part, but those parts are played by one person and want to put them together.
Just to clarify...I know I can write one part with notation by using the drum set staff, but I want to be able to use it on play back without adding separate lines for each instrument.
Thank you!

Do you mean you want a cymbal instrument then a triangle instrument then put them in a part? If so, add the instruments to the score. Open File->Parts, click new, name the instrument (Maybe Percussion 2 or something) then add the instruments to the part. If you're in version 2 check the instrument names if your in version 3 select the instruments & press +.

Yes, I think so. I’ll try it. Thanks for the quick answer.

That just adds them on their own respective part (line). I want to put all auxiliary percussion on 1 line, so when I print it out the person has all of the parts on the same sheet of music.

I wasn't sure what you meant from your description. Add one of the instrument to the score, right click the staff and choose Edit Drumset and add the other. The midi assignments are listed in https://www.midi.org/specifications-old/item/gm-level-1-sound-set.

Ok, I've gotten that far, but don't see where to add the name. Also, I looked at the link you gave me & I understand it, sort of, but don't know how to use it.

I found a work around, but it's tedious. If I copy and paste from one auxiliary part to another the sound stays the same as the copied instrument. With this, all I have to do is mark the instrument on the part...kind of like I think we should be able to. What is the INSTRUMENT choice for in the Text menu?

There are several cymbals to choose from. For an example, the ride cymbal is #51. When you edit drum set, scroll down to 51. If you click on No. above the number they will be sorted by number, you can click on Name again before you click OK. Find 51 and click it. Type the name of the instrument in the Name field on the right. If you want to change from a normal set of note heads (like make it an X note head), change Noteheads group from normal. I suspect you don't want to change this with only 2 instruments. Since the two instruments will never be played at the same time, keep the voice as 1. Change the staff line if you want to. It shouldn't be necessary if you want a one line staff. Select a shortcut, maybe to C since its the first one not used, then remember to click Names to order your instruments by name and click OK. The drumset note palette will now have all three instruments when you are in note input mode on the drumset.

OK, wow! The non-percussion are so easy to enter. Will this change apply to the next piece or does it have to be changed each time? Thanks so much for your help.

You have to make the change each time. I gave step by step directions. Once you do it a couple of times it gets easier. Many of the steps you can actually skip as I explained.
If you always use the same (or close to the same) instrumentation, you can save an empty score in the user templates folder and use it as a template. It will appear in the templates list in a similar fashion to preloaded templates. You can actually add or delete instruments if you need to.
