- Place a chordname over a note using ctrl-k, said chordname to use the extension "alt".
The result is below. The letter a of alt apparently touches the name description.

FWIW, the placement of "alt" kind of assumes standard nomenclature where you actually be writing E7alt, not putting "alt" directly after the root. If we add more space to cover this unusual case, then the usual case will have too much space. Unfortunately our rendering algorithm isn't smart enough to use different spacing in different contexts. Maybe someday...
