For what reason? But however you can select measures before, right click->measure properties... and exclude them from measure count.

I do this quite often because I have an ongoing project to transcribe all the Bach chorales in the Riemenschneider edition. (It's kind of a remedial learning thing with me. I am going back to learn the stuff I was supposed to learn in music school, but somehow didn't.) Anyhow, I group the chorales, 8 to a MuseScore file; so I want the measure numbers in each chorale to start at 1. Here's some tricks:
Select the first measure in the new section. Check what the measure number is, e.g. "6", and subtract one from it (14-1=13). In the Measure Properties window, set the measure number to "-13". This subtracts all the previous measures. In other words, measure 6 has just had five measures subtracted, so it is now labeled as measure-1 (NB: Measure-1 is not included in the default, so you won't see the number "1". Unless you change the default, the first measure number that shows up will be at the beginning of the next line.
If that first measure is a pick-up measure, perhaps it only has one beat in it. You can set that in the Measure Properties window, too. And there is a checkbox that allows you to exclude the pick-up measure from the overall measure count (which is standard practice). If you do that, it doesn't change the way you reset the measure count.
I've attached some screen shots of one of my chorales to illustrate:
Notice the measure number here is "14".
Here is the dropdown menu you get by right-clicking on the first measure (Mac: Control-click)
Here is the Measure Properties window with the new settings:
And here is the final result. Notice that there is no measure number at the beginning. The following system starts with measure number "6".
