Jumps and Repeats
I'm working on a song that is a typical arrangement for choirs with a Solo lead and piano accompaniment. The Solo start the song and goes 10 or so measures; then repeats that part. The choir remains silent until the second time through. The music will work by entering the solo and accompaniment parts, coping those part a second time and then on then adding in the choir part. I've done that once before; but it would be nice to flag the choir part and just tell it not to play until the second pass. Is that possible now? If so I need to know how to set it up. If it's not possible at this time it would be a nice feature to add, especially for anyone working with choir music which includes solo or duet parts. I've included a sample of with notes of what it should look like and play.

It's an often requested feature. I haven't heard anything specific, but I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up in the program eventually.
The ability to have a part being played only on a specific time in a repeat would be great, also to have repeats that are 3x or 4x instead of just twice, and to have dynamic changes based on which time it's played through (like forte the first time and piano the second time)

Having different payback on different repeats is a commonly-requested feature, so hopefully it will be supported someday. but you can already have repeats as many times as you like. Just right-click the measure with the end repeat sign, Measure Properties, and increase the play count.

I'm already using repeats multiple times; but the song I'm working on starts with a soloist and then goes back and the soloist repeat his/her part with the Choir doing an echo on alternate measures only on the soloist's repeat. Many choir pieces written like that. Right now the only way it can work is by coping the soloist part a second time; dropping the voltas and bringing in the choir on that new copied section. The accompaniment has to be done the same as the soloist's part. From a programmers perspective, (I have done programming in the past and still do), I would think they could set a flag to on the 'Start Repeat' bar or at the beginning that when played the flag would cause the system to make a call to the mixer object and mute the part with the flag Next, a flag would have to be set on the 'Repeat' bar that on the play would make the call back to the mixer object to turn off the mute. If the mixer object doesn't have that procedure, that wouldn't be a difficult procedure to write. I'm sure the mixer object already has a 'Mute' process that's call when the button is pressed.I though about downloading the code doing that myself. My problem is the lack of the compiler to work with.

If playback is paramount (like for rehearsal) then you can use Tools->Unroll repeats to have the score laid out in the order the measures are played. You can then delete the choir the first time through (or any other changes) for playback purposes. Of course these files are not linked so you have to be careful if you make edits, but it does allow you to easily have both a written and playback copy.
