Copy lyrics to clipboard
I can't get Copy lyrics to clipboard to work in any way that seems to make sense.
The handbook says:
Copy lyrics to clipboard
This command, available in MuseScore 2.0.3 and above, copies all the lyrics of the score to the clipboard:
From the menu, select Edit→Tools→Copy Lyrics to Clipboard.
And I've seen several forum posts that assure us this works.
OK, I've got a choral score with lyrics in the first staff. I select Edit→Tools→Copy Lyrics to Clipboard.
Then I go to a blank Word document and hit paste. Nothing happens.
Hmm, maybe I have to select the lyrics. So I select the lyrics, perform the same operation, still nothing pastes into the word processor.
If the lyrics are indeed copied to the clipboard, it seems pretty useless, since they apparently can't be pasted from the clipboard.
What am I not getting? Does "clipboard" in MuseScore not mean the same thing as it does everywhere else in the galaxy?
Comments
Try to repeat the command (twice Tools/Copy Lyrics to Clipboard).

", I've got a choral score with lyrics in the first staff. I select Edit→Tools→Copy Lyrics to Clipboard.

Workaround to avoid the mentioned issue:
1) Add a new staff (soprano eg) to your score
2) Copy paste the content of the first staff with lyrics in the new one
3) Tools -> Copy Lyrics to Clipboard
4) Paste in a word processor.
Or, as explained here in first comment of this thread (export in Xml format, etc. https://musescore.org/en/node/292822)

Try copying to a basic text editor instead of a word processor. Then, copy/paste from the text editor to a word processor. That approach works for me on Windows 10; I’ve never been able to copy lyrics directly into a word processor.

"I’ve never been able to copy lyrics directly into a word processor."
It works fine, except, due to the mentioned issue above, if the lyrics are located in the top staff of a certain score, or in a score containing a single staff.

Wondering if there's a way to copy the chords to the clipboard ... ?
Thanks!

To copy into some other program? That really wouldn’t work - unlike lyrics, chords aren’t just plain text. So even if added to the clipboard, no other program would know what to do with them.
But if you just mean to copy them within MuseScore, sure, Ctrl+C works normally.
Thanks for all the advice. The simplest way, just clicking twice on Copy lyrics to clipboard, works and pastes into Word.

Yes, the best trick.
Thank you sir, my thoughts and exasperation entirely. I too have just got 30 minutes older searching for a clipboard so virtual it confounded me. The answer to your last question seems to be 'yes, it doesn't'.

Can you explain in more detail? This thread is showing the feature does work as advertised except in one specific case that as far as I can tell was fixed years ago. The clipboard today works exactly as it is supposed to for me. Are you saying you are experiencing some sort of issue? If so, can you attach your score and give steps to reproduce the problem?

It's not working for me with the attached file.
Tools, Copy Lyrics to Clipboard. Paste does nothing. Windows clipboard viewer (Win-V) shows an empty clipboard entry. Repeat: Tools, Copy Lyrics to Clipboard and get the same result.
OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2.548021803, revision: 3224f34

Ctrl+A->Voices->exchange 1-2. It works for Voice 1

Thanks. Actually Ctrl+A, Tools -> Voices -> Exchange 1-2
This choral tradition has the melody in the alto, so that is where I attached the words. But easy to do the exchange temporarily in order to copy the lyrics.
