Do you mean Segno? I don't seem to have any trouble adding a frame to that. Are you using the Inspector? Maybe you need to first remove some custom formatting? If you continue to have trouble, please atach your score.

Looks like the "thickness" for the segno frame defaulted to 0. Doesn't happen that way normally, but maybe this score started life in an older version? Anyhow, turn up the thickness and it works.
