Add ability to show and hide "merged" Panels
Currently, one can show and hide each of the vertical panels (e.g., inspector, palletes, selection filter, play panel) independently either through the View menu or with a shortcut. Since they are often more than one panel merged, I suggest adding the ability to show and hide all the merged panels at once. See below for example of a "merged panel", on the right of the screenshot. Sometimes, when entering notes with two documents in view, I would like to hide quickly the merged panel to see more of the score.

Not to dismiss your suggestion that has merits, but I keep the box docked. I can then drag the edge of the box closest to the score to make it narrower or wider when I need to.
As a reference example, take the Vivaldi browser.
It has a 'sidebar hide/show' command for this in addition to the individual show/hide panels within the sidebar.
I just think MuseScore hasn't a defined 'sidebar' thing, rather than some docking-things that go everywhere but aren't really a combined entity; so integrating this function might be more convoluted than it seems at first glance.
FWIW, you can create a custom workspace and select the "GUI Components" option when doing so, now changing workspaces will change out the set of open panels too. Not quite the same as what you are saying, but useful also.

Thanks everyone for your comments. The custom workspace workaround idea is a good one. I've posted my suggestion in the almighty Tracker: #296358: Add ability to show and hide "merged" sidebar

FWIW, here's a demo showing a workspace I created for when I'm in the final layout stages:

Cool. A custom full-screen mode.
