how to change note duration
Hello musescore community,
I'm trying to figure out how to change the duration of a note (or of notes in a measure). If I am in 6/8 time and have a bass chord being held for 3, and if I want to break up that chord into 1-2-3 1-2-3, how would I do that?
Thanks,

Thanks! Although if I understand correctly, there's no way to really change the duration of one or more notes. It looks and feels like I would need to delete and re-insert. Is that right?

No, no need to delete . For exemple you have a quater note and you want an eight note, select the quater by clicking it, it becomes blue, tape 4

No need to delete.
First you need to realize what note input mode is.
(Being or not in note input mode is key to what/how you do things in MuseScore).
So to change a note duration :
-in note input mode: just reenter a note with the desired duration
-not in note input mode, which the logical place to be to change a duration, just select the existing note (it will become blue) and select the new duration, either by mouse in the toolbar, or quicker if you know them by digit on the keyboard.

This only works with the first note in the selection. Musescore doesn't seem to have any way to make bulk duration changes to an entire selection of notes.

You can select and cut a series of notes and then paste at half or double duration - make sure that you add extra bars before pasting double. This may not be what you are looking for, though.
