Ties
How do I tie a note of one value (for example, a half note) at the end of a measure to a note of a different value (for example, a quarter note) beginning in the subsequent measure?

Click on the first note and press + or use the add tie button on the tool bar.

Unless you are trying to tie two notes that have already been entered.
To be clear:
The usuakl way to enter ties is at the same time you enter the notes. So enter the first note, then select the duration for the second note, but instead of entering the note, press the tie button (or "+") which enters the note and ties it simultaneously, But if you have already entered the two notes separately, that's fine, just go back and select the first note then press the tie button.
