Play Panel Reduction
can you have an option to reduce the play panel and have a playback at 25% speed button, see Current & Proposal for the difference it makes.

because i like to switch between 1/4 and full speed on the fly, I don't see why I would have it any other way, current implementation is quite bad for transcribing.

Asking for a feature to be added to the software is not just about why you would have it any other way. It's about why all those other users should have to use your way.

It's important to remember that different people use the Play Panel for different purposes. Probably in the grand scheme of things, a value of 25% is pretty rare, but I guess if you're trying to playback in sync with a recording you're slowed to 25% that might make sense. Still, even someone else transcribing may be using 50% more often, or 33%. So far better to simply give you control over the percentage than waste space with a dedicated button for a particular value most users would never use. Instead, I could imagine a "disable" button next to the regular override, so you could set whatever override you wanted then toggle it on and off easily. Or have a dropdown where you can select between some preset values, including most recently used. Then it would be useful to all. And having the option to add such a control to the toolbar would be nice too. There have certainly been other requests for more play panel features on the toolbar
You can already reduce the size of the play panel, and you can already enter 25% as the tempo scaling factor.

Just drag the left border to resize the window. Also, it looks like you have it set to take the full height of the dock area. You can set it to share the height with the Inspector, or to be undocked. Just drag the title bar to put it into a new configuration

i can get it to share inspector but i can't make it any thinner, as soon as i make an inspector snap to either side it gives me a forced minimum width.

Yes, there is a minimum width, but it's narrower than your picture. You can also have it floating.
