Format/Style/Score-> Hide empty staves
But only turn that option on after having entered all notes.

Also note the hidden note in the first measure, to force the violin staff to show up even though it is otherwise "empty".

The invisible note shouldn't be needed normally, the default behavior of "Hide empty staves" is to show all staves in the first system. So usually, you would just want to be sure not to uncheck the "Don't hide empty staves in first system" option (hmm, a trilet negative... anyhow, don't mess with that checkbox). But indeed, you might want it in this case because of the way the first movement shows two separate violin staves and the second combines them. This result could also be achieved, however, by reusing the first violin part to be the combined part, and using an Instrument Change element from the Text palette to change the staff name,
