Staff/Part Properties: Change Hide when Empty setting break by break
Like for instance in one section/movement the timpani is used only a few bars then never occurs for the rest of it, so I would put this setting to "auto" so it hides the staff the rest of that movement. But In the next section/movement It comes in and out throughout it, so I would set this setting to "never" for that movement. I noticed that even though I have the piece separated by section breaks etc, when I change this setting in one section/movement, it changes it in all. That would help condense the score, thus saving ink, paper, etec. But of course maybe this is yet possible, and I'm just missing something!
(this same feature could be helpful in instances of "Change Instrument" text also)

That's definitely an opportunity for improvement. There are probably other finer controls that could be added, such as giving further control system by system.
Meanwhile, the way to get the result currently is to go ahead and set the staff to hide when empty, but insert invisible silent notes where you don't want it hidden. I've long wanted to see us add a "Not empty" element you could easily add for this purpose.
