individual parts are too big on printed page
I have scaled, removed page breaks etc. but the end look of the printed music is too big. What am I missing?

Use menu item: Format -> Page Settings... and reduce the 'Staff space' number in 'Scaling'.

I did that. Couldn't get it to be small enough.

Also check your printer settings. Have you tried exporting as PDF and printing?

Define "small enough? Figure out the actual height you want the staff to be, divide by four, and enter that values as your staff space. Guaranteed to work. No need to mess with PDF or printer settings, although to be sure, that can potentially work too, depending on the specific results you want.
