TABs only on specified measures ?
I am trying to have guitar TABs only exist for specified measures. I thought I could do it via "systems" and have TABs apply to only, say, one system - hmmmm - I guess I still don't understand systems.
For example - start with the My_First_Score template. By default each 4 measures has a system|line break.
I would like to see TABs only under measures 5-8 and nowhere else, and not have space for TAB staff taken up elsewhere.
I would also like measures 5-8 linked or not as I choose.
I don't seem to be able to figure this out.
(I know I need to change template to guitar instrument first.)

Your score currently contains 8 systems of four measures each; each system has a single staff. You want the second system - the one containing measures 5-8 - to have *two* staves. So, add the staff using Edit / Instruments. It will appear on each system of the score - each system will now contain two staves. Don't worry about this for now. Add the notes you want to the tab staff in measures 5-8, leaving the other measures empty on that staff. When you are all done, just turn on "Hide empty staves". The tab staff will disappear everywhere except on the system containing measures 5-8, because it is empty everywhere else.
If you add the tab staff as a linked staff, then *all* measures will contain notes for the tab staff, so "Hide empty staves" won't help. If you need them to be linked, then you'll want to add a separate guitar *instrument* to your score, and add a linked tab staff to that instrument. So your score will actually contain *three* staves - the top instrument has one staff, the bottom instrument two linked staves. Which is to say, each system of your score will contain three staves. Use the top staff for the melody most places, but in measures 5-8, leave the top staff blank, and instead put the melody on either of the bottom two staves - it will automatically be linked to other. Now turn on "Hide empty staves". On all systems but the one contains measures 5-8, the bottom two staves will be empty and will thus be hidden. On the system containing measures 5-8, however, the *top* staff* will be empty, and thus *it* will be hidden, leaving the two staves for guitar.
