Updating software question
I am running version 2.0.2 and am ready to install 2.0.3 but I have a question first. Do I need to uninstall the older version or can I just install the new version over it? Thanks.

You don't need to do either. Both versions can run on your machine simultaneously, so long as you give each a discrete file name. Just download the new version from the website and install it as MuseScore203 or something similar.
It is useful to keep the older version on your machine until all the scores you created with it (or intend to create with it, for whatever reason) have been finalised in PDF and you see no need to re-open and modify the original mscz files.

If you install 2.0.3 on Windows or Mac, by default, it will install it on top of the existing MuseScore 2.0.X but it will keep your settings. This default should be good for most users. Don't make your life too complicated.
(PS: I'm the packager for Windows and Mac)

That's exactly how it worked. I just installed the newer version, it replaced version 2.0.2 and is now the only version on my computer (Win 10). Both a search of active programs on the machine and control panel\uninstall programs confirm that there is only one - the more recent version - on my computer and my defaults are all as they should be.
Various developers implement their s/w updates differently, so I wasn't sure which direction to take. Thanks for the help.

No, they can't run simultaneously, only one at a time. But they can be installed on the same machine. They will share a common config though
