I thought one moves the right hand end of a volta line by
clicking and pressing (SHIFT +) but it doesn't work.
Also, Is there a way to have just some of the
clefs closer together some places to avoid another page?
I am using just the treble and lyrics.

Click the clef, and use the Inspector or select measures -> Layout/Decrease Stretch (might work).
If by "clefs" you mean "staves", then the way to have variable spacing is first set the staff distance to the *smallest* amount you need, then use staff spacers to add *more* space where required. You could also just reduce the staff size slightly.
Since you mention lyrics though, it is worth mentioning that if you've accidental entered lyrics into the wrong verse - eg, you are using verse 2 but have skipped verse 1, or you have an "empty" lyric in verse 2 in addition to the lyric in verse 1 - this can create unwanted extra space, and the way to fix it is simply remove the spurious lyrics.
