Isolate or Omit Voice Layers for Playback
I was looking for a feature that would allow me to hear just what the altos were singing. I found a work-around by using the selection filter and copying just the alto line to a new composition, but it would be helpful to be able to isolate ("solo" in mixing board terms) or mute voices without creating a new composition or altering the existing one.

That lets me mute (or solo) a staff. It doesn't allow me to select layers/voices within a staff.

And indeed this isn't possible currently, not easily at least. And a GSoC project to improve this wis on the way.
As a workaroung select one note of the voice you want not to sound, right-click/more/same voice,ok, now in inspector until playback.

I'm glad to read about the project. That's a great idea for GSoC. I'm glad that music creation apps are getting a turn at the table.
I tried the work-around. It got me some of what I needed. Definitely a helpful tip. Thanks!
