MIDI input
When I enter chords via midi, say, D & F in left hand and C,E, & A on right hand, how do I get the left hand notes to go on the bass staff and the right hand notes to go on the treble staff?

Do the staves one at a time, and make sure to select your starting position before starting note input. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/note-input to cover all your bases.
