The font of an ottava number

• Jun 3, 2016 - 05:11

What is the font used for the ottava numbers? (8,15,etc) The reason I ask is because when I uncheck the "numbers only" button to clarify va or vb, the font defaults to the style setting of FreeSerif, thus changing the look of the number, and I don't know the font used for the ottava to have this be set up so that it resembles the original 8 as a number only. It doesn't look good when there is a mix of ottavas with different fonts on a score, yet I want to be explicit with the vb but not with the va. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the information. Yeah, you'd think it'd be the text font...
Hrm. Is there a way to get this to be a choice in the Styles->Text->Ottava->Font? It seems to be lacking on my system. Or is this only for the system of MuseScore?
I just want some sort of uniformity if I also have the "va" tacked on to the number.

Argh, I just realized I think it's because I'm using Gonville. When Gonville is used there is a shift in font of the number. I don't know if this is a bug with that particular font or what. With the other two fonts there is no problem. Thanks for having me look into this a bit further.

P.S. Bravura's 8va looks a bit more pleasing to my eyes than Emmentaler's on my system. It'd be nice to be able to some how have a mix up in the sense of using mainly Emmentaler or Gonville but when it comes to this particular thing (ottavias) be Bravura, and in that sense it'd be nice if that were an option in the text style of the ottava.
