Imported music xml beam problem

Hi,

I opened a music xml file that was exported from Sibelius and all of the beams have been turned into single notes. Instead of four grouped 8th notes, for example, it turned into 4 single eight notes.

I tried dragging a beam properties/settings icon into the first note of a beam group without success. I tried selected several 8th notes and dragging the beam into the first one without success.

I'm extremely new to MuseScore so forgive me if I'm missing something obvious, but is there a way to set the beaming in this file or some way to track down what the issue might be?
