I tried to select a full measure and add an accent over all the notes in that measure, but instead it put an accent over every note for the remainder of the song.

Verified (Windows Vista). Select measure, double-click articulation, and it is applied to the entire rest of score from that point forward. Workaround: select individual notes, not the whole measure.
Good catch ! It's fixed in r4560. It was a regression due to a fix to clean the selection more correctly, in particular for the plugin framework. Keep on testing !
