Make MuseScore a good citizen and let it save its preferences in the native way. This ensures that osx-users can get rid of the preferences file in the standard way.
Can you describe this standard way? The handbook will need according changes. I may incorporate this change in 1.1 to make MuseScore more "mac app store" ready.

Applications are supposed so save their preferences files to: ~/Library/Preferences/<ReversedDomain>.<Appname>.plist
