Font of trill symbol

• Jul 13, 2016 - 22:15

Hey there.

I wanted to create some sort of "tr acc."-Symbol, so I figured I could just use a staff or chord text. However, I want it to look the same as the Trill symbol. Is there a common font that looks like the font used in that symbol?

To use a "tr" in a staff text, you can double click the text, press F2 or click on the alpha icon in the bottom left, and in the second tab, look for Common ornaments. The "tr" is in there.

OI think perhaps you are misunderstanding the importance of the "F2" palette. The symbol you want is there; it is *not* just a simple "t" and an "r" but a totally separate symbol you can only find in that palette:

The symbols in this palette can be isnerted into ordinary text; that's the whole point of the F2 palette.

Thank you for your answers. I think I failed to get my point across.

I understand that the tr symbol is not decomposable. However, at some point in time someone created this symbol, probably by finding an appropriate font and writing the two letters t and r. I want to know if someone knows this (hypothetical) curvy font or something similar to it.

My intention is to create ornament symbols in the same style as the tr symbol from the F2 palette.

In what way does accessing them directly form the F2 palette not solve the problem? Or are you saying you want to find *other* letters *besides* the "tr" that use a similar style? I don't think there is any single font that contains those symbols and a full alphabet besides. But the specific letters found in dynamics are included in the music fonts used by MuseScore - p, f, m, etc. They are under Dynamics. Aside from that, you could just randomly try different Serif fonts set to bold & italic.

It does not solve the problem as this will allow me to "type" only "tr" in that style (apart from the letters used for dynamics, as you suggest).

My intention was to create new ornaments that consist of a free text in the same style. This is why I asked for a common font in the original post.

OK, then see my previous response. As far as I know these charcaters were not simply copied from another font; they were designed specifically for the music fonts. Only the symbols actually needed are present; there is no full alphabet. So you'd have to fake it using some other serif font set to bold and italic.
